Vision
The aim of the Family Ministry at Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church flows from the church’s mission of making disciples by sharing life transformed by Christ’s love. Three main texts undergird all that we do: the Great Exchange (2 Corinthians 5:21), the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40), and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
We believe family ministry exists to engage, equip, and encourage parents in the daily task of discipling their children toward a lifetime of following Jesus. We never want to replace parents.
Student Ministry WEDNESDAY EVENING Programming
Sunday School - Sundays at 11:00 am during the school year
We want to intentionally tailor and target educational atmospheres for students based on their age, maturity, and abilities to comprehend what’s being taught.
Middle & High School Youth Group
6:30 - 8:00 pm 2nd, 4th and 5th Wednesdays of the month
Our middle school and high school students meet weekly on campus in the newly remodeled downstairs student ministry room, Room 412. That name is taken from Paul’s words to young Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12: “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”
These times are built around the church’s discipleship values of Gospel, Worship, Community, and Mission.
Frequently Asked Questions
“What Does a Wednesday Night Look Like?”
A typical Wednesday night youth group involves games, singing, teaching, and small group discussion. Occasionally, we dedicate a whole evening to small groups and sometimes take the groups out to get ice cream or food together! Some past teaching series have included apologetics, forming spiritual habits, and Biblical worship.
“Are middle and high school students together or separate?”
Some of both. We understand there is a big difference in maturity between a sixth grader and a high school senior. At the same time, we believe there is a great benefit to younger students observing and learning from spiritually mature older ones in the appropriate setting.
Currently, middle and high students meet on Wednesday nights, part of the evening to worship and receive teaching together, and part of it in separate small groups. We believe this approach lends itself to discipleship and honors the weekly schedule of busy families or those who live further away.
Weekly Bible studies tailored to a specific group may be available as students are interested, and we offer various age-specific events and retreats throughout the year.
